Arizona Republic - Arizona schools are not liable for students' off-campus injury, state Supreme Court says - "The Arizona Supreme Court ruled July 15 that schools are not liable for student injuries that occur off campus. The case, Phoenix Union High School District v. Lucero, was filed by 14-year-old freshman Christopher “C.J.” Lucero through his father after he suffered permanent injuries when jaywalking while trying to get to school." The Arizona Supreme Court opinion can be found at this link.

WBTW - Myrtle Beach lifeguard company at fault in 2018 drowning loses $21 million payout appeal -  "A Myrtle Beach-based lifeguarding company found liable for the 2018 drowning death of a Maryland man remains on the hook for one of the largest wrongful death payouts in South Carolina history. The state’s Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld a 2023 jury verdict against Lack’s Beach Service that awarded nearly $21 million to Zerihun Wolde’s estate."  The South Carolina Court of Appeals opinion can be found at this link.
